Lancaut Nature Reserve is a hidden gem, tucked down a narrow lane just off the B4228 before you get to Woodcroft on the way to Chepstow. Park on the grass areas half way up the lane between the trees, then walk up the lane and turn into the reserve. Don't progress up to the farm as the path leads to nowhere. Going down into the valley you'll stumble across this completely unexpected old church. Take time to read the info boards. The River has one of the largest tidal differences. These photos were taken at low tide and it gives a sense of the scale of the water that can flow through this valley.
